Baseball Recap: Clarence's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

Clarence dropped their record down to 10-2 on Friday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Williamsville East Flames. The Red Devils were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Flames apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

As for Williamsville East, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games.

For Williamsville East's part, Noah Kaiser tossed a big game, pitching six innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. Kaiser has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Gavin Steinacher, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Gabe Chambers also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clarence will face off against Canisius at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Williamsville East, they will take on Williamsville North at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
