Basketball Recap: East Gaston Warriors vs. Burns Bulldogs
East Gaston was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They took a blow against the Burns Bulldogs, falling 58-16. The Warriors lost against the Bulldogs in their previous head to head back in February of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 38-32 score last time.
Despite the defeat, East Gaston saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Reagan Lilja posted nine points.
Kaylee Greene continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Burns, almost dropping a double-double on 22 points and nine steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Greene has scored at least a third of Burns' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Wallace, who had 13 points and four steals.
East Gaston's loss dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Burns, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Gaston will square off against Cherryville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Burns, they will take on Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
