Recap: Thales Academy Apex Titans vs. James Kenan Tigers
On Friday, Thales Academy Apex strolled past James Kenan with points to spare, taking the game 53-38.
Thales Academy Apex's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Anna Maass led the charge by scoring 15 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which Maass has scored at least 25% of Thales Academy Apex's points. Another player making a difference was Julia Bandholz, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lillie Kornegay, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 16 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Aleyah Wilson, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Thales Academy Apex's victory bumped their record up to 9-4. As for James Kenan, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-4.
Thales Academy Apex will head out on the road to face off against Friendship Christian at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Friendship Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 514th, while Thales Academy Apex is ranked 191st). As for James Kenan, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Spring Creek at 6:00 p.m.
