Volleyball Game Preview: Christian Brothers Cadets vs. De Smet Jesuit Spartans

Christian Brothers hasn't had much luck against De Smet Jesuit recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Cadets will face off against the Spartans at 5:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Christian Brothers was handed a three-set loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They skirted past Vianney 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cadets have posted since March 29th.

Christian Brothers took Vianney into a fifth set where they got it done with a three-point win. The final score came out to 22-25, 25-21, 25-21, 19-25, 15-12.

Meanwhile, De Smet Jesuit waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with 18 straight wins... but they left with 19. Everything went their way against the Junior Bills as they made off with a 3-0 victory.

De Smet Jesuit never let St. Louis University on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-23, 25-20.

De Smet Jesuit's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 27-1. As for Christian Brothers, their victory bumped their record up to 9-15-1.

Christian Brothers came up short against De Smet Jesuit in their previous matchup two weeks ago, falling 3-1. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Spartans' Rory Luina, who had 18 digs and five assists.
