Basketball Recap: Riverside Comes Up Short

Riverside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They received a blow as they fell 59-40 to the Ysleta Indians. The Rangers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Indians from their previous meeting back in February of 2025.

Martin Soria had a dynamite gamefor Ysleta, shooting 60% from the field en route to 22 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. That's the most boards Soria has posted since back in November of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of AJ Guzman, who went 5-for-11 on his way to 11 points and six rebounds.

Riverside's loss dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Ysleta, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-15 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Riverside is set to challenge their familiar foe Clint at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Ysleta will take on rival Fabens at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
