Softball Recap: Golden Valley Cougars vs. Central Valley Hawks
Golden Valley can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent contest on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Central Valley Hawks a 6-0 shutout. The victory was just what Golden Valley needed coming off of an 18-2 loss in their prior game.
Bree Barner made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. Barner has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 11 consecutive pitching appearances. Barner was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with a home run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Izabella Sotelo, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Celia Giammona was another key contributor, going 2-for-3 with a stolen base and an RBI.
