Basketball Recap: Hoke County Comes Up Short

Hoke County lost against Union Pines back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Hoke County Bucks took a blow against the Union Pines Vikings, falling 73-43. While losing is never fun, the Bucks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 435th, while the Vikings are ranked 35th).

Ashanti Fox was her usual excellent self, putting up 26 points for Union Pines. Fox's evening made it 15 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alley Hise, who posted 14 points.

Hoke County's loss was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Union Pines, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 15-0.

Hoke County will take on Pinecrest at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pinecrest will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Hoke County surely won't give up without a fight. As for Union Pines, they will venture away from home to face off against Southern Lee at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
