Volleyball Recap: Mountain Ridge Takes Down Ranked Riverton

Mountain Ridge faced Riverton in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Sentinels were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Silverwolves. This was payback for the Sentinels, who suffered a 3-1 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Mountain Ridge not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Riverton between 19 and 21 points across their sets. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-19, 25-21.

Clark Fowler paced Mountain Ridge's offense, picking up 12 kills. Fowler got some help from Nesta Vaitai and his 15 assists. Curtis Fowler controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Mountain Ridge pushed their record up to 10-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Riverton, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-6.

Mountain Ridge will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on West Jordan at 6:00 p.m. on the 8th. As for Riverton, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-1 victory against Brighton on the 28th.
