Baseball Recap: Fulton Pirates vs. St. Charles Bulldogs
16 must be Fulton's lucky number: they beat St. Charles with that score not once but twice on Friday. The Pirates beat the Bulldogs by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 16-1. Considering the Pirates have won seven matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Connor Cunningham was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Parker Duflo was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Parker Billings, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.
Fulton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .522. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
