Volleyball Recap: Northside Falls Despite Big Games from Mitch Abe and Max Oppenheim

Northside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Payton College Prep Grizzlies. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mustangs of the 2-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Northside was the model of consistency in the loss, scoring 18 points in every single set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-18.

Northside's loss came despite strong showings from Max Oppenheim and Mitch Abe. Oppenheim had eight digs, while Abe had 12 assists.

Northside's loss dropped their record down to 8-16. As for Payton College Prep, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-16.

Northside has already played their next game, a 2-1 defeat against Senn on the 8th. As for Payton College Prep, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against St. Patrick on the 7th.
