Basketball Game Preview: Gladstone Braves vs. Kingsford Flivvers

The Gladstone Braves will take on the Kingsford Flivvers at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Gladstone is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games.

Gladstone is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Gwinn: they outscored them in every quarter. Gladstone blew past Gwinn 44-20 on Thursday. The Braves have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 24 points or more this season.

Lillie Johnson continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double with 21 points and 11 boards. The match was her third in a row with at least 19 points. Addy Blowers was another key player, putting up nine points in addition to five rebounds and five steals.

Gladstone smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in six consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Kingsford didn't have quite enough to beat Iron Mountain on Thursday and fell 50-47. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Flivvers came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 216th, while the Mountaineers are ranked 491st).

Gladstone pushed their record up to 17-1 with the victory, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points over those games. As for Kingsford, they now have a losing record of 8-9.

Everything came up roses for Gladstone against Kingsford in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 57-15 win. Does Gladstone have another victory up their sleeve, or will Kingsford turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
