Softball Recap: Walnut Comes Up Short

Walnut extended their losing streak to seven on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 2-16 in the process. They lost 10-0 to the Ayala Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 on April 7th.

As for Ayala, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-2. Considering they have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

For Ayala's part, not much got past Nicole Chandler, who gave up just five hits and racked up six Ks to keep Walnut off the board.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jasmine Peralez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Mariah Holguin, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one stolen base.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Ayala beat Walnut by a score of 11-0 later that day.
