Football Recap: Maranatha Comes Up Short

Maranatha played a tough matchup on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the La Canada Spartans, falling 42-13. Having soared to a lofty 42 points in the game before, the Minutemen couldn't push the score so high this time.

Maranatha's loss came despite strong showings from Cooper Berry and Bradley Loiacono. Berry threw for 186 yards and two touchdowns, while Loiacono picked up 28 receiving yards and one score.

Maranatha's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for La Canada, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Maranatha will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Linfield Christian at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. The Minutemen will be up against the Lions' rather soft defense (which has allowed 31.75 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for La Canada, they will look to defend their home field on the 26th against Village Christian at 7:00 p.m.
