Preview: Monacan Chiefs vs. Clover Hill Cavaliers
Monacan is 10-0 against Clover Hill since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. Monacan posted their biggest victory yet this season on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Richmond City School of the Arts 65-33 at home. Given Monacan's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 101st, while Richmond City School of the Arts is ranked 333rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Samuel Sims continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 26 points. Another player making a difference was Amare Cooper, who scored 15 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Clover Hill's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. The game between Clover Hill and Manchester wasn't particularly close, with Clover Hill falling 72-57.
Monacan's victory bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Clover Hill, they bumped their record down to 3-10 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Monacan didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Clover Hill in their previous meeting back in November of 2023, but they still walked away with a 62-57 victory. Will Monacan repeat their success, or does Clover Hill have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
