Volleyball Recap: San Diego Comes Up Short

After flying high against Point Loma on Tuesday, San Diego came back down to earth. The Cavers fell just short of the Morse Tigers by a score of 3-2 on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for the Cavers in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost three in a row.

While San Diego ultimately came up short, they really made Morse work, particularly in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 23-25, 23-25, 25-18, 15-9.

Morse was led to victory by Miguel Cobian and Raymond Nonato. Cobian had ten kills, seven blocks, five digs, and two aces, while Nonato had 23 assists and eight digs. Those eight digs gave Nonato a new career-high.

San Diego's loss dropped their record down to 10-17. As for Morse, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-14 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. San Diego will welcome Madison at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Morse, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Lincoln at 6:30 p.m. The Tigers are on a six-game streak of home wins, the Hornets a six-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind.
