Football Game Preview: Woodside Wolverines vs. Warwick Raiders

The Woodside Wolverines will challenge the Warwick Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

On Saturday, Woodside made easy work of Kecoughtan and carried off a 36-12 win. The Wolverines pushed the score to 29-6 by the end of the third, a deficit the Warriors had little chance of recovering from.

Woodside got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Daniel Young out in front who rushed for 108 yards and one TD. Young also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making six total tackles and defending two passes. Woodside also got help from James Campbell, who showed off his sure hands for 85 receiving yards.

Woodside didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Kecoughtan to a completion percentage of just 50%. The team can thank Young for the heroic effort on defense: he. Woodside wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 66.7%.

Meanwhile, Warwick waltzed into their contest on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Monarchs 39-0. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Raiders' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked tenth, while the Monarchs are ranked 200th).

Warwick's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Woodside, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
