Recap: Canterbury Crusaders vs. Lakeside Christian Lions
The Canterbury Crusaders scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They blew past Lakeside Christian, posting a 69-31 victory on the road. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Canterbury also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Canterbury's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was MacKenzie Tucker, who scored 22 points along with three steals. The matchup was Tucker's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Zy'nasia Alhuzaifi, who scored 21 points along with four steals.
Janiah Batten and Katie Kolaxis certainly did their best on Wednesday to try and avoid the loss. Batten dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Kolaxis scored nine points along with five blocks and three steals. Batten hasn't dropped below two blocks for five straight games.
The victory makes it two in a row for Canterbury and bumps their season record up to 4-6. As for Lakeside Christian, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Canterbury will take on Gulf Coast HEAT at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Gulf Coast HEAT's defense has only allowed 25.2 points per game this season, so Canterbury's offense will have their work cut out for Canterbury. As for Lakeside Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Academy at the Lakes at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Academy at the Lakes is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
