Baseball Recap: Doral Academy Beats Braddock for Their Seventh Straight Victory

Doral Academy had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Braddock Bulldogs a 10-0 shutout on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Firebirds, who have now won 18 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Doral Academy got a great performance from Marcelo Rodriguez as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave Rodriguez a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Kobe Carrion was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Prince, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two runs.

Doral Academy lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Braddock didn't launched any home runs.

The victory was the seventh in a row for Doral Academy, bringing their record up to 25-5-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Braddock, their defeat dropped their record down to 20-8-1.

Doral Academy will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bulldogs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
