Softball Recap: Riverbank Triumphs

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Riverbank ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Denair Coyotes by a score of 7-3. The Bruins haven't had any issues with the Coyotes recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Maya Guzman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single hit and allowing only one earned run while striking out 22 over eight innings pitched. Those 22 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Briseida Felix, who went 2-for-5 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Janelle Montoya, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.

Riverbank's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Denair, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Riverbank will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Enochs at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Denair, they are taking a road trip to square off against Livingston at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
