Softball Recap: Independence Comes Up Short

Independence was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 8-4 to the Lebanon Trail Trail Blazers. The Knights were not able to make up for their loss to the Trail Blazers from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Independence saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Megan McCADDEN, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Stormy DANIEL was another, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Independence's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Lebanon Trail, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-3-1.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Independence will challenge rival Centennial at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Lebanon Trail is set to face off against their familiar foe Memorial at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Lebanon Trail has won three straight at home, while Memorial won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
