Volleyball Preview: Southside Seahawks vs. Jones Trojans
Southside is on a three-game streak of home losses, Jones a nine-game streak of away losses dating back to last season, but someone's luck is about to change on Tuesday. The Southside Seahawks will welcome the Jones Trojans at 6:00 p.m.
Last Thursday, Southside came up short against East Carteret and fell 3-1. While the Seahawks didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Mariners 25-19 in the first period.
Southside started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 16-25, 25-19, 25-15, 25-22.
Despite the loss, Southside saw an underclassman step up: Madilynn Moore had 20 digs and eight aces. Those eight aces gave Moore a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Elanor Davis, who had 23 digs and a kill.
