Basketball Game Preview: United Christian Academy Eagles vs. Chaffey Tigers

Having just played yesterday, the United Christian Academy Eagles will jump right back in to play the Chaffey Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Chaffey is hoping to do what La Quinta couldn't on Wednesday: put an end to United Christian Academy's winning streak, which now stands at four games. United Christian Academy really took it to La Quinta for the full four quarters, racking up a 54-25 victory. The Eagles pushed the score to 49-18 by the end of the third, a deficit the Blackhawks cut but never quite recovered from.

United Christian Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jordin Edwards out in front who went 5 for 6 on her way to 10 points in addition to six assists and six steals. Edwards is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie Estrada, who went 5 for 12 on her way to 17 points and seven steals.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Chaffey). They breezed by Don Lugo to the tune of 51-24 on Tuesday. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Tigers with their most commanding win of the season.

The victory (which was Chaffey's third in a row) raised their record to 3-2. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.3 points per game. As for United Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.

United Christian Academy couldn't quite finish off Chaffey when the teams last played back in December of 2023 and fell 45-42. Can United Christian Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
