Basketball Game Preview: Blackfoot Broncos vs. Shelley Russets

Blackfoot is 8-2 against Shelley since January of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Blackfoot Broncos will take on the Shelley Russets at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Thursday, Blackfoot earned a 60-49 win over Bonneville. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Broncos.

Kasen Sorensen and Austin Arave were among the main playmakers for Blackfoot as the former went 8 of 19 on his way to 18 points in addition to eight boards and three steals and the latter posted 19 points along with five assists and five boards. The dominant performance gave Arave a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Lawrence Cousineau, who put up eight points and ten rebounds.

Meanwhile, Shelley entered their tilt with Skyline on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Grizzlies by a score of 65-52. The Russets' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Shelley is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 4-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Blackfoot, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Blackfoot skirted past Shelley 51-48 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Will Blackfoot repeat their success, or does Shelley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
