Softball Game Preview: Westland Hialeah Wildcats vs. Hialeah Gardens Gladiators

Westland Hialeah is 2-8 against Hialeah Gardens since March of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Wildcats will face off against the Gladiators at 3:30 p.m. Westland Hialeah has given up an average of 16 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Westland Hialeah is headed into Monday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game dating back to last season last Monday. They lost 16-1 to Hialeah-Miami Lakes.

Meanwhile, Hialeah Gardens never let their opponents score on Thursday. Everything went their way against Dr. Krop as they made off with a 15-0 victory. Considering the Gladiators have won seven games by more than eight runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Krystal Martinez was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Delania Aleman, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Hialeah Gardens always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .818. The last time their OBP was this high was back in February.

The win made it two in a row for Hialeah Gardens and bumps their season record up to 8-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for Westland Hialeah, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

Westland Hialeah suffered a grim 20-4 defeat to Hialeah Gardens in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
