Basketball Game Preview: Miller Buccaneers vs. Carroll Tigers

The Miller Buccaneers will challenge the Carroll Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Miller is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Flour Bluff just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell to the Hornets 48-42. While losing is never fun, the Buccaneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1017th, while the Hornets are ranked 482nd).

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Izaiah Gidrey, who posted 14 points and four steals. Another player making a difference was George Simmons, who put up ten points.

Meanwhile, Carroll suffered their biggest loss since November 14th last Friday. They were outmatched by Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial and fell 103-64. The Tigers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 58-35.

Carroll's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 12-11. As for Miller, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-8.

Miller was able to grind out a solid win over Carroll when the teams last played back in February, winning 72-61. Does Miller have another victory up their sleeve, or will Carroll turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
