Basketball Recap: Vista PEAK Prep Takes a Loss

Vista PEAK Prep and ThunderRidge squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Vista PEAK Prep had to settle for second. They lost to the ThunderRidge Grizzlies on the road by a 59-43 margin. While losing is never fun, the Bison can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 50th, while the Grizzlies are ranked eighth).

Drew Paine was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 18 points and 14 rebounds for ThunderRidge. The dominant performance also gave Paine a new career-high in blocks (four). Aman Binu was another key player, shooting 86% from the field on his way to 14 points.

Vista PEAK Prep has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-15 record this season. ThunderRidge has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season.

Vista PEAK Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for ThunderRidge, they will welcome Fruita Monument at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. ThunderRidge knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 12 contests -- so hopefully Fruita Monument likes a good challenge.
