Football Recap: DeSoto County Comes Up Short

DeSoto County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost to the Avon Park Red Devils on the road by a 30-13 margin. If the Bulldogs were looking for revenge after losing 22-19 to the Red Devils when the teams met back in August of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Although DeSoto County took the loss, they still got scores from Devion Brown and Blake Forman.

Tayvion Jones was nothing short of spectacular for Avon Park: he rushed for 168 yards and one touchdown on only ten carries. Jones' longest rush was for an incredible 89 yards.

DeSoto County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Avon Park, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

DeSoto County has already played their next matchup, an 18-6 loss against Central on the 5th. As for Avon Park, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Hardee at 7:30 p.m. on the 12th.
