Basketball Game Preview: Ridgedale Rockets vs. Newark Catholic Green Wave

The Ridgedale Rockets will face off against the Newark Catholic Green Wave at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Newark Catholic will be up against a hot Ridgedale team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. Everything went Ridgedale's way against Waynesfield-Goshen last Friday as Ridgedale made off with a 69-44 win. The Rockets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 21 points or more this season.

Newark Catholic hasn't had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They strolled past Granville Christian Academy with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 68-53. The Green Wave pushed the score to 58-31 by the end of the third, a deficit Granville Christian Academy cut but never quite recovered from.

Ridgedale better keep an eye on Griffin Urdarovski. He was instrumental in Newark Catholic's win, putting up 14 points and three steals. Urdarovski is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in each of the last 15 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Wesley Stone, who posted 14 points.

Newark Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 7-16. As for Ridgedale, their win bumped their record up to 17-5.

Ridgedale came up short against Newark Catholic in their previous meeting back in March of 2019, falling 54-41. Can Ridgedale avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
