Basketball Recap: Mesivta's Run of Seven Straight Victories Now Over

After a string of seven wins, Mesivta's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 64-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mercy Career & Technical. The Mustangs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced Mercy Career & Technical earlier this season, when they won 58-56.

Mesivta lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Tuvya Gross, who posted 13 points. Another player making a difference was Tzvi Bril, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten boards.

Mercy Career & Technical got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Anthony Caple out in front who put up 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Ford, who had 15 points.

Mesivta's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-3. As for Mercy Career & Technical, they pushed their record up to 8-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mesivta and The City School will face off at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest having both just played. Mesivta is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.3 points per game this season. As for Mercy Career & Technical, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against New Foundations at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in New Foundations' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three contests.
