Softball Recap: Westfield Area Triumphs

Westfield Area won the last time they faced Wautoma and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Pioneers came out on top against the Hornets by a score of 12-8.

Libbie Showen looked comfortable as she tossed 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Natalie Grant was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Saydee Kohnke, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Westfield Area's win bumped their record up to 6-9. As for Wautoma, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westfield Area will host Wisconsin Dells at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Wautoma, they will take on Adams-Friendship at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Hornets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Green Devils have averaged an impressive 9.5 runs per game this season.
