Dayton and Fernley are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2023, but likely not for long. The Dust Devils will be playing at home against the Vaqueros at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Dayton is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

Dayton's tournament run continued when they took on Pahrump Valley on Friday. The Dust Devils took a 12-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Trojans.

Duke Evans and Brody Dupuy did some serious damage despite the final result: Evans went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run, while Dupuy went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Jordan Kennedy was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Saturday just wasn't the day for Fernley's offense. They came up short against Needles on Saturday, falling 7-0. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Vaqueros' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Fernley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Riley McCullar, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. McCullar has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

Having lost for the first time this season, Fernley fell to 4-1. As for Dayton, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

Dayton might still be hurting after the 10-3 defeat they got from Fernley in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Can the Dust Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
