Softball Preview: Crown Point Panthers vs. Chazy Eagles

Crown Point is 9-1 against Chazy since May of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Crown Point Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Chazy Eagles at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Last Wednesday, Crown Point got the win against Lake Placid by a conclusive 26-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Crown Point.

Meanwhile, Chazy entered their tilt with Willsboro Central with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. They blew past the Warriors 32-1. Chazy's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Kennedy Columbus made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Columbus has been consistent recently: she hasn't pitched less than five innings every time she's pitched this season. Columbus was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and a run.

In other batting news, Sam Gonyo was incredible, going 4-for-5 with a home run, ten RBI, and four runs. Another player making a difference was Kalli Schwartz, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and a triple.

Crown Point's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Chazy, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.
