Basketball Game Preview: South Bend Riley Wildcats vs. Plymouth Pilgrims/Rockies

The South Bend Riley Wildcats are taking a road trip to square off against the Plymouth Pilgrims/Rockies at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. South Bend Riley has given up an average of 53.9 points per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

South Bend Riley came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They took a blow against Elkhart, falling 67-30. The Wildcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-13.

Despite the defeat, South Bend Riley had strong showings from Lafaye Gibson, who posted seven points in addition to five rebounds and four steals, and Courtney Lee, who earned five points. Gibson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last five games she's played.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Plymouth). They enjoyed a cozy 58-39 win over Goshen on Saturday. The Pilgrims/Rockies have beaten the RedHawks the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the RedHawks has come to flipping the script.

South Bend Riley has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Plymouth, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

South Bend Riley was dealt a bruising 79-20 loss at the hands of Plymouth in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Thankfully for the Wildcats, Taylor Delp (who almost dropped a double-double with 24 points and nine boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
