Basketball Recap: Baraga Takes a Loss

Baraga lost against Ishpeming back in March of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Baraga Vikings fell just short of the Ishpeming Hematites by a score of 43-40. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Vikings have suffered since December 8, 2023.

Despite the defeat, Baraga saw an underclassman step up: freshman Mya Hendrickson dropped a double-double with 13 points and 16 rebounds. Hendrickson is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least ten every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Megan Mayo, who posted 11 points.

Baraga's loss dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Ishpeming, their victory bumped their record up to 13-4.

Baraga wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 45-16 win against Dollar Bay on the 14th. As for Ishpeming, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 78-46 victory against Escanaba on the 13th.
