Baseball Game Preview: Skyline Vikings vs. Pisgah Eagles

Skyline is 0-4 against Pisgah since March of 2015 but things could change on Monday. The Skyline Vikings are taking a road trip to challenge the Pisgah Eagles at 4:30 p.m.

Skyline's last matchup with Pisgah could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's match on Friday. Skyline lost 17-7 to Pisgah. The Vikings' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it seven in a row dating back to last season.

For Pisgah's part, Luke Gilbert and Caleb Jenkins were a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Gilbert tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Jenkins pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance gave Gilbert a new career-low in hits. At the plate, Gilbert scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Jenkins scored a run while going 1-for-5.

In other batting news, Mason Gass and L Mccrary did most of the damage at the plate: Gass scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Mccrary scored three runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave Gass a new career-high in RBI (two). Brooks Garrett was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Pisgah was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Pisgah now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Skyline, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Skyline suffered a grim 17-7 defeat to Pisgah when the teams last played on Friday. Can Skyline avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
