Baseball Recap: North Pitt Comes Up Short

North Pitt was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Nash Central Bulldogs. The Panthers were not able to make up for their loss to the Bulldogs from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Quintaris Price was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off only one hit. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Price wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Bryce Henderson, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

North Pitt's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Nash Central, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-2.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought as North Pitt Panthers face off against SouthWest Edgecombe Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. SouthWest Edgecombe's pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so North Pitt's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Nash Central, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 6-1 win against Franklinton on the 21st.
