Basketball Recap: North Broward Prep Drops Highest Score of Season Against Cardinal Newman

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask North Broward Prep). They were the clear victor by a 65-42 margin over the Cardinal Newman Crusaders on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Eagles have posted since December 20, 2024.

North Broward Prep was led to victory by Ysamar Pimentel and Kaydie Sturm. Pimentel went 8 of 11 en route to 21 points in addition to six assists and four steals, while Sturm almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine boards. Pimentel's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Makena Longo, who posted 12 points.

With the win, North Broward Prep broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 10-11. As for Cardinal Newman, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season.

North Broward Prep and Cardinal Newman could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. North Broward Prep will challenge King's Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday down 138 places (165 vs. 27). Similarly, Cardinal Newman (ranked 301st) will meet Westminster Academy (ranked 20th) at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
