Football Game Preview: Olean Huskies vs. Iroquois Redhawks

Olean is 0-3 against Iroquois since May of 2021 but things could change on Friday. The Huskies will head out to face off against the Redhawks at 7:15 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Olean sitting on three straight wins and Iroquois on five.

Olean is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Dunkirk 35-12 on Friday. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 21-0.

Domonick Hirliman continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 108 yards and a pair of TDs. He also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because Olean is undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise. Mykel Rivera did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 94 receiving yards.

Olean's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB 12 times. Colby Booth led the group effort, picking up four of those sacks all by himself.

Meanwhile, Iroquois won against Maryvale last Friday with 42 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Redhawks claimed a resounding 42-6 victory over Albion. That looming 42-6 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Redhawks yet this season.

Olean picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 4-2. As for Iroquois, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.

Olean was taken down by Iroquois 52-7 in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Thankfully for the Huskies, Trevor Barry (who rushed for 265 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 11.0 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
