Basketball Recap: Tanque Verde Takes a Loss

Tanque Verde lost against Pusch Ridge Christian Academy back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Tanque Verde Hawks fell 65-52 to the Pusch Ridge Christian Academy Lions. The Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Tanque Verde lost, don't look at Philip Knott. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Rich Knott, who posted nine points and eight boards.

Santino Almazan went supernova for Pusch Ridge Christian Academy, going 9 of 16 en route to 21 points. Almazan is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Noah McKinney was another key player, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds.

Tanque Verde's loss dropped their record down to 14-9. As for Pusch Ridge Christian Academy, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 10-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. It'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Tanque Verde Hawks duke it out with the Thatcher Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Pusch Ridge Christian Academy, they will challenge Andrada Polytechnic at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
