Football Recap: Wiregrass Ranch Comes Up Short

If Wiregrass Ranch was riding high fresh off their 25-0 takedown of Wesley Chapel last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bulls had to suffer through a 32-0 loss at the hands of the Sunlake Seahawks.

Sunlake found their leader in sophomore Kate Smith, who rushed for 59 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also threw for 156 yards and three TDs while completing 73.7% of her passes. The Seahawks are undefeated when Smith posts three or more passing touchdowns, but 2-3 otherwise. Miley Falby was in the mix as well, providing Sunlake with two scores.

Wiregrass Ranch's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Sunlake, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

Wiregrass Ranch will challenge Mitchell at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Mustangs will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Bulls surely won't give up without a fight. Sunlake has already played their next match (against Nature Coast Tech), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
