Volleyball Recap: Sutherland Comes Up Short

Sutherland had lost five straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 5-17 to make it six. They came up short against the Sandhills/Thedford Knights, falling 3-0. The Sailors were not able to make up for their loss to the Knights from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

Kate Dyer paced Sutherland's offense, picking up three kills. Dyer got some help from Drew Rotert and her eight assists.

As for Sandhills/Thedford, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. They not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since September 16th (when they won 3-0).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sandhills/Thedford to victory, but perhaps none more so than Grace Johnston, who had 18 assists and three aces. Johnston is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last four games she's played.

Sutherland has already played their next matchup (against Hershey), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Sandhills/Thedford, they will challenge Mullen at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
