Sun Valley and Cuthbertson squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Sun Valley had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Cavaliers by a score of 9-8. The Spartans' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Beau Green and Paxton Homewood did some serious damage despite the final result: Green went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Homewood went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That double marked the first that Homewood has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Braxton McGinniss, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Sun Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 16-12. As for Cuthbertson, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-4 record this season.

Sun Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cuthbertson, they will take on Myers Park on Tuesday. The Mustangs' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Cavaliers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
