Basketball Recap: Parker Kelly's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Pius X over Norris

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Pius X can now relate to. They fell just short of the Norris Titans by a score of 52-49 on Thursday. The Thunderbolts have struggled against the Titans recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meetings.

Pius X lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Parker Kelly, who shot 55% from the field on his way to 19 points and five assists. He is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 40% in the last eight games he's played. Another player making a difference was Kolbe Volkmer, who went 6-for-8 en route to 13 points and seven boards.

Norris' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Chris Garner Jr. led the charge by shooting 47% from the field to rack up 14 points. Alec Small was another key player, putting up five points and six assists.

Pius X's loss dropped their record down to 14-11. As for Norris, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 25-2.

Pius X does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Norris, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 51-49 defeat against Skutt Catholic on the 14th.
