The Windermere Prep Lakers are taking a road trip to square off against the Leesburg Yellow Jackets at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Windermere Prep has eight straight victories, Leesburg has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Windermere Prep came out on top against Celebration on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive 11-run second inning. The Lakers' pitchers stepped up to hand the Storm a 16-0 shutout. The Lakers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by nine runs or more this season.

Carsha Campbell and Ella Goldberg made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Campbell pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Goldberg pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. At bat, Campbell got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI, while Goldberg went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Goldberg a new career-high.
In other batting news, Kylie Konstand was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Samy Czachoroswski, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Windermere Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .647. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Leesburg fell victim to Tavares and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 18-0 to the Bulldogs.
Leesburg saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brianna Tozer, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
Windermere Prep pushed their record up to 14-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Leesburg, their loss dropped their record down to 13-7.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Windermere Prep hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .345. However, it's not like Leesburg struggles in that department as they've averaged .348. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Windermere Prep was able to grind out a solid win over Leesburg in their previous matchup on Wednesday, winning 9-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lakers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
