Basketball Recap: Olathe Northwest Piles Up the Points Against Garden City

Olathe Northwest posted their biggest victory since December 5, 2023 on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 58-20 win over the Garden City Buffaloes. Given the Ravens' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while the Buffaloes are ranked 198th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Olathe Northwest was led to victory by Gavin Popik and Jj Lee. Popik went 8 of 17 en route to 18 points and three steals, while Lee dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Popik has been hot, having posted 15 or more points the last six times he's played. Zander Dible also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.

Olathe Northwest's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Garden City, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.

Olathe Northwest wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 46-45 win against Seaman on the 24th. Garden City has also already played their next game, a 64-51 loss against Maize on the 24th.
