After some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last three games, Randolph finally came back down to earth on Saturday. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hunterdon Central Red Devils. The Rams' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Breanna Colburn was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up four earned runs off 11 hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

Randolph's loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Hunterdon Central, their victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-1.

Randolph and Hunterdon Central should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps New Jersey Rankings. The Rams (ranked 20th) will meet West Milford (ranked 240th) at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Hunterdon Central will take on Old Bridge at 4:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (8 vs. 178).
