South is 8-2 against Mayfield since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Rebels will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. South is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.

South fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against North on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Rangers by a score of 6-5. The Rebels haven't had much luck with the Rangers recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

South saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Makayla Schneider, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one triple. Linell Dichazy (Lakeland CC) was another, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Mayfield fell victim to Riverside and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They came up short against the Beavers, falling 10-0. The Wildcats' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Mayfield also got a good showing from Emma Arth, who tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Furthermore, Arth didn't allow a single walk, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024.

Mayfield's loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for South, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.

South took their victory against Mayfield when the teams last played two weeks ago by a conclusive 16-6 score. Will the Rebels repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
