Baseball Recap: River Ridge Has No Trouble Against Pecatonica

River Ridge made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Pecatonica, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Timberwolves put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 10-4 victory on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Timberwolves needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Carter Copsey made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those four runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Cael Koenig was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Nies, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-5.

River Ridge now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Pecatonica, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. River Ridge will face off against Barneveld at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Pecatonica, they are packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will take on Cambria-Friesland at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
