Softball Recap: Champaign Central's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Champaign Central put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against the Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond Knights as they made off with a 14-1 victory. For the Maroons, this counts as revenge for the 17-6 win the Knights walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2023.

Champaign Central got a massive performance out of Kaitlyn Helm, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Another player making a difference was Olivia Roundtree, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Helm wasn't the only one making solid contact: Champaign Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Champaign Central pushed their record up to 6-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Champaign Central will welcome Lincoln at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond, they will challenge LeRoy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
