Baseball Game Preview: Hanover Nighthawks vs. York Catholic Fighting Irish

The Hanover Nighthawks will challenge the York Catholic Fighting Irish at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Hanover lost 15-3 to Biglerville on Wednesday. The loss continues a trend for the Nighthawks in their meetings with the Canners: they've now lost four in a row.

Hanover saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carver Alvarez, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, York Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against Delone Catholic, falling 7-1.

Connor Latrechiano made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and one double.

Hanover's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for York Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.

York Catholic's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Hanover has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .433. It's a different story for York Catholic, though, as they've only averaged .324. Will they be able to contain Hanover's hitters?

Hanover couldn't quite get it done against York Catholic in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 8-5. Can the Nighthawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
